The InMotion Musculoskeletal Institute and Active Implants Corporation (AIC) announced today a new research partnership focused on total joint implants utilizing compliance, polymeric materials. This new collaboration extends Active Implant’s already robust research programs to provide next generation orthopedic implant solutions that will benefit patients worldwide.
AIC’s novel technology employs biocompatible materials that mimic aspects of natural cartilage in its management of biomechanical joint forces. InMotion’s involvement will give Active Implants a local research partner. “We are excited to have excellent research capabilities like InMotion right here in Memphis,” said Richard Treharne, PhD, Vice President, Orthopedic Research for AIC.
InMotion will perform independent, contract research in each of its core science areas, including biologics & biomaterials, biomechanics, and clinical research. Involved in the projects will be InMotion’s 19 science professionals, including four PhD-level researchers, MD and MD/PhD level clinician scientists, and three RN-level researchers, along with associated staff.
